Hyderabad - Food Industry

Last five years, we were working on retail footprint of Food Industry & emerging markets, which increase connectivity & infrastructure, were the key drivers. 65 square kms of footprint with more than One Crore population makes us most populous city in the country, post Telangana, we have seen the real growth in all sectors of the industry. At Yards & Feet, we were a pro retail leasing company, since 15 years, we were looking at the requirements we have added other real estate services to suit client needs. Amazingly, we have entered into identifying Restaurant spaces to KIOSK models, making analysis for food operators. Also for spaces required for Drive-ins, Hotels, food carts, and surprisingly, kitchen spaces.

According to a popular website city of Hyderabad has 2881 restaurants and 50% of them serve Biryani as their main dish, while speaking to GHMC officials on Meat stats, the officials confirmed an average 700 tonnes of chicken and 291 tonnes of meat is consumed every day and surprisingly 2000 tonnes on the festivals. This city is also known for its cosmopolitan culture and place for every one and all, what we see in Mumbai and Delhi, as the city is emerging as food capital of the country. We were also instrumental in creating food retail spaces for different cuisines, apart from regular customers that opt for dining; different delivery systems have added icing on the cake by increasing the more number of customers. Signature dish of Hyderabad ” The Biryani”, which recently entered into Limca book of records, had served 70,44,289 times in a year by Paradise, an average of 20,000 biryani by one single restaurant, world leading soft drink companies have done a survey to understand to position their soft drink brand in combo pack which has got an estimate of 120,000 biryani servings everyday @ an average price of Rs.500/- for two servings make a revenue of 3,00,00,000 ( three crore rupees) a day, let me also take you through the different dimension in the food industry, this city is not only famous for Biryani but for mouth watering local cuisines like Haleem, Kebabs, Sher Korma, Sheermal and Shorba, which has suddenly seen an explosion in its range of food and expansion into emerging areas, making quite a gourmand’s destination. This city is also in the list of Creative Cities Network by UNESCO in gastronomy category. According to a study, all this eating helps economy too. Through an HR auditing firm, we were able to know 12% Hyderabad’s population is directly or indirectly employed in the food industry. This Industry is now working 24/7 with variety of foods, world class restaurants, ice creams parlors, kiosks, food courts, exotic cuisine festivals. Now this city is called City of Pearls, Food Capital, City of Opportunities, Safe to live and it can be reached in any corner of India within 2 hrs of time.

Hyderabad has become new destination for food industry by providing lakhs of jobs for Bouncers, Bakers, Baristas, Chefs, Delivery Boys, cooks, even pest controllers & rat catchers.

Estimated 5% (7,25,000) population have breakfast outside an average ticket price of Rs.55/- ( fifty five rupees) per person

Rs.3,98,75,000( three crore ninety eighty lakh seventy five thousand ) per day

Lunch Biryani, roti, kebabs, thali’s and 90% of this dishes are rice based and only 10% wheat based.

Estimated 6% (8,70,000) of population have lunch dine outside & food delivered at their place of an average ticket size of Rs.150/- ( One hundred and fifty) per person.

Rs. 13,05,00,000 ( Thirteen crore five lakhs) Revenue is earned by this industry.

Dinner Biryani, Chinese, Italian, Andhra, Telangana, different types of world & local cuisines too, it also add’s liquor and wine to the menu.

 Estimated 4% (5,80,000) of the crowd drink and dine outside and after swiggy & zomato delivery’s have added another 7% – 12%, with an average spending Rs.200/- ( two hundred)

Rs. 11,60,00,000/- ( eleven crore sixty lakh) revenue earned

which is estimated to 25 – 27 corers per day revenue. Hyderabad is emerging as a great investment destination. food industry is one such catagory.
